Registration of a deceased person in Croatia

For the registration of a deceased person in the Croatian Register  it is necessary to obtain an original Death Certificate or certified photocopy from the respective registry office in Australia, with certified translation in Croatian (Australian Death Certificate should be confirmed with the Apostille by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to be valid in Croatia).
Also, the proof of Croatian citizenship for the deceased has to be provided as well as an identification document. The form “Prijava smrti” should be completed and delivered to the Embassy or Consulates.
If the deceased person had a Croatian passport or identity card those should be handed over to consular officer who will cancel them and return them to the person submitting the application.  The person submitting the application should also provide his/her identification document.
